Note of thanks and blessing 3/31/2020

3/31/2020

Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and School Congregation –

As I sit and reflect on everything that is going on in our lives today with the current COVID 19 situation, one thing remains constant and that is my faith in God. I know that many of you are leaning on Him just as I am. For as King David declares, we are never apart from Him:

1O LORD, ... 5You hem me in, behind and before, and lay Your hand upon me. ... 7 Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence? 8 If I ascend to heaven, You are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, You are there! 9If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me. -- Psalms 139:1a,5,7-10 (ESV)

I wanted to pass along a note of thanks to all of you for your continued support and prayers for the Church and the School. I truly miss seeing you all on Saturdays and Sundays in worship, but we are blessed to continue to hear the word through technology as sermons are posted on our website as well as on Facebook(see below).  Our school children are also continuing to grow in Christ as they too are being fed through technology as they have been getting lessons online.

Whether we hear the Lord's word face-to-face or via technology its power and effect remain the same:

6 “Seek the LORD while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near; 7let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that He may have compassion on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. 8'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,' declares the LORD. 9 'For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11so shall My word be that goes out from My mouth; it shall not return to Me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.'"      -- Isaiah 55:6-11 (ESV)

The recorded services can be viewed online.  There are two options at this time. (1) Go the church and school Facebook page @molcsdsm or https://www.facebook.com/molcsdsm/   and look for recent video posts, OR (2) go to  https://molcs.org/church/ click on "Sermons and Media" and select the one you want to watch, or follow this LINK to the same location

We are doing our best to continue as “business as usual” which means we still need to meet our financial obligations. Your ongoing financial support is needed more than ever as we move through these difficult times.

Your weekly tithing and supporting gifts can be mailed to the church;  Mt Olive Lutheran Church and School 5625 Franklin Ave Des Moines, IA 50310  or online at https://molcs.org/church/donate

Again, thank you for your response to the Lord & your support of His mission & ministry at Mt. Olive.

In Christ -

Congregation President, Paul Brown & the Mt. Olive Leadership Team

Prayerfully Consider...
One of the realities of carrying out the mission of the church is making sure we have the resources to do so.

While the budget remains in flux we are reaching a point where the Church meeting its mission has become more challenging.

If you have not given in awhile, please prayerfully consider a weekly giving. If you are interested in automatic deduction for your tithing we can set you up with that.

If you have any additional questions never hesitate to reach our with a call or text to me at 515-783-8518 or email at vbguillaume1987@gmail.com - Brian Guillaume
