Technolog Contract

After reviewing the presented guidelines and expectations for technology use at Mount Olive Lutheran School, students and parents acknowledge the following by signing this agreement:

  • The use of school-issued laptops, email, and network is a privilege, not a right.
  • MTO’s network and email accounts are owned by MTO and are not private. MTO has the right to access my information at any time.
  • I am responsible for my school-issued Google account.
  • I will not share my laptop or password with others.
  • I am responsible for my language and conduct when using my school-issued laptop.
  • I am responsible for protecting school property.
  • I will use technology in a manner that complies with the laws of the United States and the state of Iowa, including copyright laws.
  • I understand that I am to notify an adult immediately if I encounter material that violates appropriate use.
  • I understand that MTO may sequester any school-owned device in my possession.
  • MTO administrators, teachers, and law enforcement will deem what conduct is inappropriate if not specified in this agreement.

STUDENT:

I understand and will obey the rules outlined above. I will use MTO technology resources productively and responsibly for school-related purposes. I will not use any technology resource in a such a way that would be disruptive or cause harm to others. I understand that consequences of my actions could include possible loss of computer privileges and/or school disciplinary action as stated in the MTO Student Handbook and or prosecution under state and federal law.

PARENT/GUARDIAN:

As the parent or guardian, I have read and discussed with my child the expectations outlined above. I understand that computer access is provided for educational purposes in keeping with the academic goals of MTO and that student use for any other purpose is inappropriate. I recognize it is impossible to guarantee that MTO can restrict access to all inappropriate materials and I will not hold the school responsible for material acquired on the school network. I understand that children’s computer activities at home should be supervised as they can affect the academic environment at school. I hereby give permission for my child to use technology resources at MTO.
